The Woven Abaca Pendant is a wide, shallow shade woven by hand from abaca fiber, hung on an adjustable cable. It comes in five sizes: 30 cm (11.8″) wide and 15 cm (5.9″) high, 40 cm (15.7″) wide and 20 cm (7.9″) high, 60 cm (23.6″) wide and 35 cm (13.8″) high, 80 cm (31.5″) wide and 40 cm (15.7″) high, and 100 cm (39.4″) wide and 50 cm (19.7″) high. It hangs over a dining table, in a bedroom or reading corner, or in groups in a restaurant or hotel.
The weave
Abaca is a strong natural fiber taken from the leaf stalks of a plant in the banana family. It is woven by hand into the shade, so the texture is slightly irregular and no two shades are exactly alike. The fiber is left in its natural tone, and it is light, so even the largest size stays easy to hang.
Why warm light matters
A natural fiber shade takes on the colour of the lamp inside it. At 2700K the weave glows honey-gold and throws soft, textured light onto the ceiling and walls; cooler light makes it look gray and dry. On this piece, warm white is part of the design.
Sizing and placement
The 30 cm (11.8″) suits a bedside, a small hallway or a group of three over an island. The 40 cm (15.7″) suits a reading corner, a small table or a row over a kitchen island. The 60 cm (23.6″) suits a round or square table of about 110 to 150 cm (43 to 59″). The 80 cm (31.5″) suits a table of about 150 to 200 cm (59 to 79″) or the middle of a living room. The 100 cm (39.4″) suits a large table, a big living room or a room with a high ceiling. Over a table, hang the bottom 75 to 90 cm (30 to 35″) above the surface.
Suspension
The shade hangs from a 90 cm (35.4″) cable that adjusts on site, with a white, black or wood cable set. The cable can be made longer to order for higher ceilings.
The light
The lamp sits inside the shade. Light passes through the open weave as a warm glow and falls down through the open base onto the table below, so the pendant gives both ambient light and a pool of light where you sit. Over a kitchen island or desk, keep task lighting alongside it.
Lamping and installation
One E27 lamp. Warm white LED at 2700K. The pendant weighs about 1 to 3 kg (2.2 to 6.6 lb) depending on size. It is for indoor use and is hardwired by your electrician.
Care
Switch off and let the lamp cool. Dust the weave with a soft brush or a vacuum on low with a brush attachment. Keep it dry: water can stain and loosen natural fiber.

We wire every lamp in our workshop for the country it is delivered to. Voltage, plug and electrical standard are set from your delivery address, so there is nothing to choose at checkout. Pieces shipped to the US are fitted with UL-listed drivers and LED components.
The colour temperature is listed in the specifications. A dimmable version, or a warmer or cooler light, can be made at no extra cost: write it in the note at checkout.
Every piece is assembled, wired and switched on at our workshop bench before it is packed. We check the electrics, the fixings and the finish, and nothing is crated until it passes.
Ask us, and we send you a video of your own lamp, lit and working, before it leaves the workshop. It is free.
An installation manual is packed with every lamp. Hardwired fixtures should be installed by a licensed electrician.
For ceiling lights, a standard ceiling box carries about 23 kg (50 lb). Check the weight in the specifications: heavier pieces need a fan-rated box or a mounting plate fixed to a joist.
If a piece arrives damaged, defective or incorrect, email contact@casalolalights.com with your order number and photos. We cover the return shipping and send a free replacement or a full refund, with no restocking fee.
If a parcel is lost, we replace it free or refund it in full. An order not delivered within 90 days of dispatch is refunded automatically.
Every piece carries a two-year warranty against manufacturing defects, from the day it is delivered.
Standard catalogue pieces, including pieces made after you order, can be returned within 30 days of delivery. The piece must be unused, uninstalled and in its original packaging. A 20% restocking fee and return shipping apply.
Choosing a finish, size, dimming option, colour temperature, cable length or plug does not affect your right to return. Bespoke commissions (a non-catalogue size, a structural change or a specially commissioned material, agreed before payment) and items marked final sale cannot be returned for change of mind.
Cancelling
Free within 48 hours of ordering. After that, a charge of up to 20% may apply for materials and work already committed to your piece.
EU and UK customers
Your 14-day statutory right of withdrawal applies, with no restocking fee.
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Yes, both ways, at no extra cost. The drop can be shortened for a lower ceiling, or extended in 50 cm (20 in) sections for a higher one, and we set the finished height to your room. For double-height rooms and stairwells, drops beyond 3 m (10 ft) are quoted with a drawing for you to approve before production. Yes. Size, proportions and metal finish can be adapted on most models, and we send you a drawing to approve before production. The bottom of the shade can be left open or fitted with a translucent diffuser, at no extra cost. Changes to wiring, dimming or colour temperature keep the piece returnable; changes to its outer form are made for you alone and cannot be returned. Yes, at no extra cost. The standard version is not dimmable; write #dim in the note at checkout and we fit a dimmable driver. Tell us the dimmer or smart-home system you use and we match the driver to it. The light is 2700K Warm White as standard; a warmer or cooler colour temperature can be made on request, also at no extra cost.
It weighs about 1–3 kg by size. A standard ceiling box carries about 23 kg (50 lb), so a box properly fixed to a joist, not to plasterboard alone, will hold it.
