A bouquet of stone, lit from within.
Dozens of hand-carved alabaster spheres, each suspended from its own thin black rod, gathered together at a single brass canopy. From below, the spheres form a downward-curving dome — closer to a bouquet of balloons held by their strings, or grapes clustered on a stem, than to a chandelier in the traditional sense.
Stella sits in the most contemporary register of the alabaster catalog. Where Anelli reads architectural and Cascata reads Art Deco, Stella reads organic-sculptural — closer to the work of contemporary American studios (Lindsey Adelman, Apparatus) than to historical Italian design. For rooms where the fixture should read as a sculpture that happens to also provide light, rather than a light fixture that has been decorated.
Where it belongs:
- In a two-story foyer or stairwell, hung so the cluster sits at second-floor sightline. The downward-bouquet form reads beautifully from both above and below.
- In a double-height great room or open-plan kitchen-dining-living, anchoring the central zone with sculptural presence rather than architectural weight.
- Over a round or oval dining table in a contemporary residence with 11–14 ft ceilings.
- In a primary bedroom suite with double-height architecture, centered above the foot of the bed in a master suite or above a sitting area.
- In hospitality projects — boutique hotel lobby, contemporary restaurant, private club entry — where the cluster reads as commissioned artwork rather than catalog fixture.
- Above a stair landing in a stairwell with viewing angles from multiple floors.
About the alabaster.
Every sphere is hand-carved from solid Italian alabaster — lathe-turned and polished individually, not pressed, not poured, not glass. Spheres range from approximately 6cm to 10cm in diameter; the variation in size is intentional, creating the irregular cluster shape that defines the design.
The veining of every sphere is unique to the block of stone it was carved from. Within a single Stella, the spheres are intentionally not matched — softer translucency beside more dramatic veining, side by side. Matched stone reads as factory output; varied stone reads as real material, individually selected.
Choose the veining at checkout:
- More veining — heavily patterned, dramatic
- Less veining — softer, milkier, more uniformly translucent
- Random selection — we choose from stock
When lit from within, each sphere becomes its own warm light source. The cluster from below reads as a constellation of dozens of small warm moons rather than a single bright fixture.
About the construction.
Each sphere hangs from its own thin black powder-coated steel rod, gathered at a single solid brass canopy at the top. The rods are slim enough to nearly disappear against most ceiling colors — your eye reads the spheres and the brass canopy, not the suspension. The black rods contrast deliberately against the warm alabaster: hard line against soft mineral.
The canopy, ceiling plate, and all visible hardware are solid brass — not plated, not coated. The fixture's weight (35–45 kg / 77–99 lbs of alabaster + steel + brass) distributes through the canopy continuously, so plated brass would wear at the load contact points within years.
Default finish is solid brass for the canopy and matte black for the suspension rods. This finish is fixed — Stella is not built in alternative finishes.
The light.
Approximately 40 × G9 sockets, one per sphere, max 40W per socket. Total load at full incandescent: ~1,600W.
(Final sphere count confirmed at order based on production specification.)
LED G9 bulbs are essentially required at this scale. Three reasons:
- Heat management. Forty incandescent G9 bulbs running at 40W each generates significant heat inside small alabaster spheres. Over time this accelerates alabaster discoloration. LED G9 at 4-6W actual draw eliminates the heat issue entirely.
- Dimmer load. 1,600W incandescent load exceeds standard residential dimmer capacity (600W typical, 1000W for heavy-duty residential, 2000W for commercial). LED at 4-6W per socket brings total load to ~200W — within standard dimmer range.
- Circuit capacity. A standard US 15-amp residential circuit handles 1,800W maximum. Running Stella at full incandescent leaves almost no headroom for anything else on the circuit. With LED, Stella draws ~2 amps — leaves plenty of capacity.
Dimmable on TRIAC 120V AC — Lutron Caseta, US residential dimmers, most home automation.
Color temperature: 3000K warm white recommended to pair with the warm alabaster character. 2700K or 4000K available based on bulb choice at installation.
Drop and ceiling clearance.
Default brass stem is 30cm / 12" between the canopy and the top of the cluster. Fully customizable on request — for double-height foyers, stairwells, and atriums, we ship extended stems sized to the buyer's specification at no additional charge. Specify your ceiling height and the desired cluster position at checkout.
The cluster itself adds approximately 110cm / 43" of height below the canopy (top of cluster to lowest sphere).
Minimum ceiling height: 10 ft for standard installation. For dining or seating applications, hang so the lowest sphere sits 32–36" above the table or 84"+ above the floor.
Installation and structural requirements.
Stella weighs 35–45 kg / 77–99 lbs depending on final sphere count. This is significant structural load.
Required: reinforced ceiling blocking with structural beam access. Standard 50 lb residential junction boxes are not sufficient — the fixture exceeds standard junction box weight ratings by 50-100%. Licensed electrician with structural access required. We strongly recommend the buyer's electrician verify ceiling structure before installation date.

- Dimmable: Yes — TRIAC 120V AC compatible
- IP rating: Dry-rated indoor only (IP65 not available for this fixture)
- Stem: 30cm default, fully customizable at order at no additional cost
- Mounting: Structural ceiling blocking required. Standard 50 lb junction box is insufficient at 77-99 lbs total weight. Licensed electrician with structural access required. Buyer should verify ceiling structure before installation.
- Warranty: 2-year mechanical and electrical
- Note: Each Stella is hand-assembled with individually carved alabaster spheres. Sphere count, exact diameter, and total weight may vary by ±5% between fixtures. Veining and translucency variation is intrinsic to natural stone and is not a defect.
