The Materiality (Level A Grade)

This is a fixture defined by its density. Constructed from Solid Cast Copper, The Matera Horizon rejects the industry standard of folded sheet metal. The textured panels are poured into sand molds, creating a thick, irregular surface where no two millimeters are alike. The copper is finished in a warm, burnished tone that glows from within, sealed to arrest the oxidation process at the perfect moment of maturity. It is a heavy, permanent architectural element.

Linear fixtures of this length face the challenge of "bowing" over time. We reinforce The Matera Horizon with an internal steel spine that guarantees the fixture remains dead-straight, with zero deflection, for its lifetime. The suspension system utilizes a dual-stem approach for absolute stability, and we pre-thread the safety aircraft cables to support the substantial weight of the cast copper. Each unit is crated in a wooden sarcophagus to ensure the textured finish arrives unbruised.
