Alabaster, descending in concentric tiers.

Concentric tiers of hand-cut Italian alabaster panels, each tier smaller than the one above it, descending in a stepped wedding-cake silhouette from a solid brass canopy. The design language is drawn from Italian Art Deco chandelier work of the 1930s — the tiered alabaster pieces commissioned for the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, the SS Rex transatlantic liner, and the grand cinemas built across Milan and Rome between the wars. Off, the piece reads as sculpted layered stone. On, every tier glows from within, and the panels of natural veining catch and diffuse the light differently along their length.

Cascata Rotonda is the round companion to the Cascata Linear — same Art Deco DNA, same workshop, same alabaster panel construction. Cascata Linear for long dining tables and kitchen islands. Cascata Rotonda for round tables, foyers, and rooms where the architecture asks for concentric rather than linear geometry.

• In a period-authentic Art Deco renovation (1920s–40s apartments, hotel-residential conversions, restored cinemas converted to residential or hospitality use).

About the alabaster.

Each tier is built from hand-cut solid Italian alabaster panels — vertical slabs, each individually shaped and hung from the brass frame ring of its tier. The panels are not matched between tiers: each ring is hand-selected from blocks of alabaster, and the veining of one tier never exactly mirrors the tier below or above it. This is intentional. Matched stone is the signature of a factory line; varied stone is the signature of real material, hand-selected.

You can choose the veining character at checkout:

• More veining — heavily patterned, dramatic, high-contrast dark mineral lines
• Less veining — softer, cloudier, more uniformly translucent
• Random selection — we choose from stock

When lit, the tiered geometry distributes the light from top to bottom across the alabaster surfaces. The upper tiers project light upward, washing the ceiling with warm tone (the signature Art Deco ceiling-glow effect). The lower tiers diffuse light downward through the panels onto whatever sits below — table, foyer floor, living room seating. The result is the layered, top-and-bottom illumination that defines great Art Deco lighting design.

About the brass.

The frame, chain, canopy, and all hardware are solid brass — not plated, not coated. We chose brass over plated steel even at the larger sizes because at this fixture's weight (especially the Rotonda 5 at 48 sockets and full alabaster load), plating would reveal itself uneven within years. Solid brass holds its geometry and ages into a warmer patina over decades.

Unlacquered by default. Available also in chrome (cool modern register, pairs with cooler-toned rooms) and matte black (Art Deco period-accurate, grounds the alabaster against darker palettes). All three finishes at the same price.

The light source.

LED G9 bulbs are essentially mandatory for the Rotonda 4 and 5 — both for the practical dimming math and for fixture longevity. Incandescent G9 bulbs at 40W generate significant heat over 20–48 sockets, which accelerates alabaster discoloration over time. LED at 4–6W actual draw per socket eliminates the heat issue entirely.

Dimmable on standard TRIAC 120V AC — Lutron Caseta, standard US residential dimmers, most home automation.

Custom IP65 wet-rated version available.

The standard Cascata Rotonda is built for indoor dry rooms. For clients specifying this piece in wet zones — primary bathroom over a tub, covered outdoor pavilion, indoor pool deck, hospitality wet zone — we also build the Rotonda to IP65 specification with sealed driver, gasketed canopy, and wet-rated LED.

Add $650 at checkout for IP65 conversion. Lead time extends by 3–4 weeks.

Chain and drop.

Solid brass chain (or chrome / black to match finish), 50cm / 20" standard length, fully customizable at order. Specify your ceiling height and we ship to your requirement. Extended chains for double-height foyers available — we've shipped the Rotonda 5 with 4-meter chains for 24-ft stairwell installations.
