Black gives the piece weight against white walls and pale oak, and it sits well in a modern kitchen, next to black window frames or against warm plaster. Because each shade is woven by hand, the tension and spacing of the weave vary slightly from piece to piece.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003eHow it lights a room\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe lamps sit inside the drum. Unlit, it reads as a dark sculptural form; lit, the warm light shows through the gaps in the weave and casts a woven pattern across the ceiling. The dark fibre lets out less light than the natural tones, so the effect is moodier and more intimate. It is an ambient light: over a working kitchen island, keep task lighting alongside it.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003eChoosing a size\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe 71 cm (28\") suits a round table of about 100 to 130 cm (39 to 51\"), a kitchen, a bedroom or an entrance. The 102 cm (40\") suits a dining table of 180 cm (71\") and longer, a living room or an open-plan space. Over a table or island, hang the lowest band 75 to 90 cm (30 to 35\") above the surface; in a walkway, keep at least 2.1 m (7 ft) clear beneath it.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003eSuspension and installation\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eIt hangs from a round canopy on a link chain, and the chain is made to the length your ceiling needs, including for high and double-height ceilings.
